3 hr - Your luxurious railcar features a service bar, restroom and colorful artwork on the walls. The upper level has an open-air observation deck with breathtaking views of the majestic mountain ranges and lush sugar cane fields, and the lower level offers air-conditioned comfort and expansive vaulted windows. Take advantage of the complimentary specialty drinks served throughout the trip. See fields of sugar canes surrounding the railcar as the railway winds around the slopes of the remnant volcano Mt. Liamuiga. Discover the hidden black sand beach and overgrown plantation estates, and cross steel bridges, including one stretching 300 feet (90 meters) across a deep ravine. You will also pass many villages including the Mansion Village and Saddlers Village, surrounded by fields producing a range of fruit. The colorful narration of the history of Caribbean and St. Kitts includes tales of the “Last Railway in the West Indies,” which was used to transport sugar cane from the island’s sugar plantations to the sugar factory in Basseterre, St. Kitts capital city. You will also be entertained with folk songs and hymns by the St. Kitts Railway Choir. At the end of your train ride, transfer to a sightseeing bus to continue your 12-mile (19 km) journey along Island Main Road. The route passes under Brimstone Hill Fortress and through small villages and towns before returning to Basseterre. Please note: there is no reserved seating. All seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Fun train with amazing...

Fun train with amazing views both near and far… great staff… great way to see the whole island. 90 minutes of interesting facts and history with added local dancers

Excellent

The scenery and the history and editorializing by the guide over the sound system are full of history and local lore. We rode up top in the open air and I couldn’t imagine doing otherwise. It was truly spectacular. The train travels, obviously, where car travel cannot go— the long views and topography and flora and fauna sights make this a must. Support staff and service was excellent. Excellent. Thank you!! I recommend this for everyone. *those with mobility issues may not make it up the winding narrow stairs to the top level (at least not without assistance or while the train is moving— these are old freight cars with little cushioning in the suspension, but I loved it. We rode in the last car, up top.

Fun train ride with beautiful views

Had a great time on this tour. A lovely way to spend a few hours seeing the beautiful island of St Kitts. The train was good fun with cocktails, great commentary and lovely staff. The other part of the tour was a bus ride with a great and informative driver. I booked this trip with Tropical Tours through Expedia.

Fun experience

The train/bus tour was an excellent way to see and learn island history. Similar experience to a big city trolly tour except mostly in a cool old train with yummy island cocktails.
