What To Expect
Old Road Bay
Old Road è un antico villaggio di pescatori. In questa zona si trova un noto ristorante di pesce, Sprat Net e un mercato del pesce. A breve distanza la tua guida ti porterà fuori dalla strada principale vicino a uno dei centri sanitari nell'area di Wingfield Estate. Passerai il petroglifo degli amerindi.

Romney Manor
Mentre attraversi Romney Batik (Caribelle Batik), dai un'occhiata ai suoi giardini lungo il percorso verso la foresta.
A breve distanza da Romney inizierai a vedere il sentiero della foresta. Qui sbarcerai dal veicolo e la guida fornirà un briefing e rilascerà bastoni da passeggio. Quando inizi la tua camminata di due ore (da una a una fuori dalla foresta), vedrai l'avvistamento della Scimmia di Vervet Verde e varie specie di uccelli insieme ai diversi tipi di flora.
A volte le scimmie restano fuori dalla vista, specialmente in certe ore del giorno.
La guida ti introdurrà ad alcune delle nostre piante / alberi medicinali come Trumpets Bush, Black Sage e Sour Sop solo per citarne alcuni mentre fai trekking attraverso questa parte esotica della foresta. Alcune delle nostre piante e alberi sono cresciuti in altezza e spessore con radici di contrafforti lussureggianti, ad es. Alberi di agrumi, saman e locus.
Questo tour è adatto a persone di medio livello fisico (livello 3 su 5). Si dovrebbe essere in grado di camminare su per la collina, attraverso sentieri stretti, su pietre, piccole rocce e non avere sfide fisiche. In caso di dubbi, è sempre meglio contattare il fornitore prima di prenotare.
Uno spuntino leggero di pasticceria e bevande verrà servito prima della partenza per il tuo hotel o porto.

Questo è il viaggio verso la foresta. Questa era una tenuta passata in cui il tabacco e l'indaco venivano prodotti originariamente nel 1600 ma lo zucchero divenne un prodotto di esportazione più redditizio e redditizio. Oggi resti di un acquedotto, un camino, un mulino (per la frantumazione della canna da zucchero) e una distilleria di rum scoperta nel 2013. Parte di quest'area può essere vista mentre viaggi nella foresta pluviale.

Beautiful hike

We were lucky to have the Owner who took good care of us on this trip. Our ship docked at a different port and he had people at both ports looking for us. Then we found out he was our tour guide as well, once we were gathered up with everyone. At any rate it would be considered an easy hike if you are in shape and I would say it was a moderate hike for me (not in shape) there were a few times my daughter helped me over a long (darn short legs) etc. The tour was beautiful!
Something for Everyone

For lovers of nature, history, herbalism or distilleries, this is the right tour! We soaked up all we could learn, enjoyed the time hiking in the rainforest, and walked away with a new appreciation for natural medicine. Our knowledgable guide had so much to share. We were pleasantly surprised with the "extra" things he went out of his way to show us. This half-day tour is a good option for those who arrive by ship. The timing allowed us a few remaining hours on shore near the port to explore/shop/dine on our own.
Great nature walk - recommended

Mr Rogers fitted in this rainforest walk for us at short notice and we were so glad it was possible. He was relaxed, chatty and put us at ease, adapting the tour to our particular interests (my husband is a naturalist). We walked through the rainforest for more than three hours as he pointed out fruit and nut trees, butterflies and evidence of the local vervet monkeys. It was fascinating to hear about the use of the plants, knowledge which is still held largely orally and which he has learned from older community members and family. The impression came over of a living pharmacy that people would walk into to get the cures they needed - some still used by older people today. It was quite different from the UK woods that we know!
This was a manageable walk over rough paths, and we chose to climb a steep bank to the ridge (an easier alternative was available). I was grateful for the advice of an earlier reviewer to take the offered stick for the walk.
We ended up with a welcome glass of cold juice and a tasty coconut pastry treat before being taken back to our meeting point in the open-sided buses used on the island. If you are averagely/reasonably fit and into nature, this tour is highly recommended.
It is on the same site as the zip-wire experience if you fancy an overhead view of the rainforest as well! (completely separate tour) We did not but others were buzzing past overhead and having a great time by the look of it.

This trip was wonderful. Our guide Nick took us on a 2 hour hike with just two other people. He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. He also helped me through the more difficult parts of the hike. Be sure to use the walking sticks provided. Highly recommend this excursion.
